Secrid is a brand that revolutionized the way we view the contents of our pockets, with its story stretching over a decade before the launch of its flagship product, the Cardprotector, in 2009. Secrid’s journey began in the 90s when its founders, while running the design agency Spirid, noticed changes in pocket contents due to the introduction of the first electronic payment systems in the Netherlands. In 1995, as cash gave way to cards, they created their first minimalist wallet – the Secrid Bodycard.

Working on projects for clients like ING, Maxi Cosi, and Quooker remained their main occupation, but Secrid was always on their minds, especially when they noticed another shift in the early 2000s – smartphones put the world at our fingertips, and most essential documents shrank to pocket size.

The financial crisis that hit Europe in 2008 led to a drought of client orders, which for the founders, with 25 years of experience living and working together, became the moment to realize the dream of creating their own brand with a vision to change the way people perceive their pockets. That’s when Secrid shifted from a side project to the main focus of their activities.

From the beginning of Secrid’s journey 27 years ago, the founders combined their experience in fashion and product design to create pocket-sized everyday items, produced in the Netherlands. The brand prides itself on the awards won but is even more delighted with the growing number of satisfied fans over the years. Today, Secrid products can be found in over 8,500 selected stores worldwide, and the founders work together with their three children and over 100 colleagues in a renovated industrial warehouse, which serves as both a family home and a creative center for new pocket-sized products and services. Since 2022, Secrid proudly bears the B Corp title, marking a milestone on the path they have been following since the brand’s inception in 2009.
